Project brief
Another project initiated by Bombardier, this time to replace a small coffee machine with a much larger hot water producer. Space in the galley area was extremely tight even after a small shelf was removed, and the raised tap height – required to allow jugs to be filled – made the project even more challenging. A drip tray incorporating locating pegs to position the jugs was also requested.
Solution provided
The jugs used by the catering team needed a tap spout height of 225mm from the drip tray, but the overall height of the boiler could not exceed 450mm. The boiler was designed with a large, relatively shallow water tank, holding the 6 litres of boiling water required, and all the control parts were located underneath.
A special spill tray + plinth was designed to hold the jugs in position whilst they were being filled, in a unique off-centre position, as specified by the customer.
In addition to the hot water producer and spill tray, we also designed and fabricated stainless steel cladding panels to “finish off” the area behind the unit.
